STRENGTHENING THE CHURCH - GENERAL MINISTRY
Sequoia Ministries International is committed to equipping and strengthening the Christian community through working closely with local peoples.
There is a universal need for Christians to learn and grow in their faith but millions have little opportunity for this due to lack of access to materials, education, etc. For example, today there is a serious lack of Bibles and study materials, as well as a lack of biblical training and discipleship. With the absence of biblical training comes the absence of sound teaching in local churches causing them to stay infant and unable to produce mature, reproducing Christians.
SMI seeks to help strengthen the Body of Christ through a number of avenues:

CHILDREN AND YOUTH - GENERAL MINISTRY
It has been stated that “children are our hope and our future.” If this is true, then why do we spend so little time, money and energy nurturing them?
In many countries of the world today, over 50% of the total population is under the age of 16 years. In Africa alone this means there are hundreds of millions of children and teens ("youth").
We want to respect and honor our God-given responsibility as adults to not neglect the children and youth of our day. Rather we want to help them to become responsible, moral adults and leaders for the future.
SMI actively helps care for and nurture children and youth in the following ways:

HELPING THE NEEDY - GENERAL MINISTRY
It is a core belief of Sequoia Ministries that we should have concern for the hurts and needs of others. This has led us to a variety of partnerships that provide help for the physical and social needs of the poor.
SMI seeks to help the needy through the following avenues:
“Helping the Needy” is an area of our work that is often most tangible, and yet it is often the most overwhelming because the need is so enormous. This in no way negates the value of helping those we can. The realization that someone on earth cares and is willing to help provide food, or medicine or educational helps to their children speaks volumes to a destitute father or mother, and gives them a renewed sense of hope and encouragement to keep pressing on.
This area of our work does not ignore the spiritual needs of the poor. Knowing that in most cases the poor are not only physically hungry, but also hungry for the things of God, we try to help meet this need as well. SMI therefore provides opportunities for the people we work with to hear the Gospel and learn more about God from a Biblical perspective.
