Children's Ministry
In many of the impoverished countries SMI works in, Children’s Ministry is the bottom rung of the church ministry ladder. This occurs not because churches lack love for their children, it occurs because other ministries in the church have such great needs and take precedent. Very few adults are involved in Children’s Ministry and there are usually no children’s materials available, not even a Bible. Because there are so few Bibles, children rarely hear Scriptures read or Bible Stories taught.
Although this is a sad state of affairs, SMI feels this is also a golden opportunity for us to help a multitude of children and their families. In the schools and churches where SMI has been involved in Children’s Ministry, we have found administrators, teachers, and church leaders with open arms, welcoming any help we can give them. They will send their people to Children’s Ministry trainings, they will use children’s materials we give them, and will in fact ask for more. What is even more important is that the children love to come to church and they can understand the things of God.
